Prosthetic data foundations Project

About the post:

Applicants are invited for a part-time Research Fellow to join a team of academics, clinicians, and patients to deliver an NIHR funded (Research for Patient Benefit – RfPB) project. The project will aim to explore and understand patient and stakeholder perspectives on routine health data collection, use and sharing following amputation. This knowledge will form the foundations for data driven improvements in prosthetic care. The project includes a systematic review, qualitative interviews and focus groups, a national survey and finally a participatory action research approach to developing recommendations for clinical practice.

About you:

We welcome applicants who have knowledge of qualitative research methods and survey design and implementation. An interest in amputation and prosthetic rehabilitation is also key.  It is essential that candidates have good communication skills, can work well within a team, and are highly organised. Willingness to work flexibly to achieve project demands will be needed.

Those newer to research are welcomed to apply as a passion for the topic area and a willingness to gain mixed methods research skills is also important.   For example, those with clinical experience in the field who may be newer to research. You will be supported by a strong research team.

Key tasks will include:

  • Supporting the systematic review process
  • Co-ordinating research approvals via the Health Research Authority
  • Arranging recruitment activities
  • Carrying out semi-structured interviews and focus groups
  • Supporting the development and implementation of a nationwide online survey
  • Data management
  • Contributing to data analysis
  • Contributing to publishing and disseminating the research findings

You will be joining an established and driven multidisciplinary research team (i.e., People Powered Prosthetics), who are passionate and committed to improve lives, prosthetic limbs, and rehabilitation of anyone effected by limb loss through research.
