IT Infrastructure Specialist - Networking

We are looking for an individual with excellent networking skills to join our team of talented, dedicated and highly capable specialists developing IT infrastructure systems for the University of Southampton.

If you have excellent skills in data networking one or more of the following technologies to develop scalable and reliable solutions we would like to speak to you:

  • Networking -routing and switching (MANDATORY)
  • DNS / DHCP
  • Server networking (Windows, Linux)
  • Firewalls
  • Wireless networking
  • Hardware Load Balancer technologies

Any experience in VMware networking would be a great advantage.

With around 35,000 users worldwide, we run large scale, enterprise class ICT solutions which we continue to expand and develop. Our team designs, architects, develops and implements ICT solutions across our enterprise systems, providing services to locations both in the UK and elsewhere. Once delivered, the systems are managed by operations support teams, leaving this team to focus on development.

Role Primary Responsibilities:

  • You will use your skills and experience to develop and implement network systems to support the business of the University. 
  • Work with Project Managers, Support teams and Business Representatives to ensure the suitability of solutions

  • Has strong technical and requirement gathering skills
  • Can demonstrate the ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks.
  • Has the confidence and ability to take on the role of technical lead on some projects.
  • Is a good relationship builder
