£44,930 - £56,511 per annum

Ref 3444-09- M

We wish to recruit a Principal Research Fellow to lead and develop our in-house research activities. This is the most senior dedicated research post within NETSCC. It will provide the successful applicant with excellent opportunities to further their career in the study of evaluation research, to develop a growing team of researchers, and to coordinate the national and international research activities of a key health research commissioner.

As an experienced researcher with a strong publication record the post-holder will lead research activities within NETSCC. The successful candidate will have previous experience of managing, supervising and developing a team of researchers.

The responsibilities of this post will focus on: supporting and developing the research skills and understanding of NETSCC; leading on and managing the in-house research-on-research programme; and contributing to the international profile and activity of NETSCC as an internationally significant research management organisation.

NETSCC (the NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre) is part of the University of Southampton and was established in April 2008. NETSCC manages 5 evaluation research programmes on behalf of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). The centre was created to meet challenges arising from the national research strategy Best Research for Best Health and the Government’s decision to increase the joint health research fund to £1.7 billion by 2010. This is an exciting time for NETSCC, with rapid expansion of current research programmes as well as establishing new programmes.

More information about the programmes we manage, and NETSCC can be found on our website. http://www.netscc.ac.uk
